Robert Avena, Esq.
Attorney Avena has been practicing law in New London County for 35 years. He graduated cum laude with a B.A. in history from the University of Connecticut in 1977 and obtained his law degree at UCONN School of Law in 1980. He serves on the Board of Trustees for the Pierce Memorial Nursing Home and is a past Chairman of the Board. Attorney Avena has also served in the House of Delegates and the Board of Governors of the Connecticut Bar Association and is presently a board member of the Connecticut Association of Municipal Attorneys and New London County and Mashantucket Bar Associations.
Attorney Avena is a Town Attorney for Waterford, Eastford and the Special Town Attorney for North Stonington. He also represents the White Sands Beach Association and the Eastern Connecticut Conservation District. He is former Town Counsel to Stonington, City of Groton, Voluntown and Plainfield and the former Zoning Counsel for Ledyard. He was a founding member and legal counsel to the Colchester Land Trust, Inc. Key areas of legal practice for Attorney Avena include planning and zoning, civil litigation, municipal, business and real estate law. Litigation experience includes the defense of Dominion Power v. Waterford (largest dollar-amount tax appeal in Connecticut history), planning and zoning, tax collections, foreclosures and boundary disputes.
